Day 1. Don't waste any time, explore. We had a super early flight from the east coast (5am) in Norfolk, VA to San Francisco Airport. If you want to maximize use of your time, take the real early flights and you'll be able to actually do something at your destination the first travel day. We arrived at the airport and took the Air Train to the rental car station, where we hopped in equipped with GPS (I highly recommend). Located about 2.5 miles north of the Falls, this park offers a spectacular view of both the Giant Whirlpool on the Canadian side and the vicious rapids at the 90-degree bend in the Niagara River. We arrived in Vancouver at about 11:00 pm and went straight to the hotel to rest up for our first day of vacation. The Coast Vancouver Airport Hotel was easy to find but I'm glad we only had to spend a few hours there. Their keycard system was on the fritz so we had to be escorted up to our room. When we made it inside, the walls were thin enough to hear highway traffic and other hotel guests. Luckily we were pretty tired and fell asleep quickly.
